Dr. E. J. Morris was born February 7, 1961 in Washington D.C. He is the second of three children born to Edward and Gloria Morris of Glenarden, MD. He graduated from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, MD. Dr. Morris received his Bachelor of Theology, Master of Theology, and his Doctor of Theology degrees at Guadalupe College in San Antonio, TX. He has also received his Bachelor of Science in Occupational Education degree in Management from Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, TX. He is married to the former Stephanie Sanders. They have two daughters, Sheree and Pamela.
Pastor Morris acknowledged his call into the Gospel Ministry in 1986. He served as the associate minister and minister of music at Memorial Missionary Baptist Church until 1992. In 1992 he was called to Pastor West End Baptist Church of Hondo, TX. He served for 13 years at West End before being called to pastor Memorial.
Pastor Morris is very active in the community, serving in various capacities in the Baptist Ministers’ Union of San Antonio and Vicinity, and the Westside Ministerial Alliance and Wives Incorporated; he is a chaplain for the San Antonio Police Department and the Lighthouse Hospice in San Antonio. Pastor Morris gives back to community as well while serving as an advisor to youth initiatives in the San Antonio Area. He also serves on the faculty of the Guadalupe School of Religion in San Antonio. God has given Pastor Morris the passion and vision for leading Memorial to a new level in worship service. Pastor Morris is a visionary and is working to spread the word of God everywhere.
